Do you want to know the basic aspects of teaching Spanish as a foreign language?
The Spanish language is becoming increasingly important on today’s international scene. It is now the second most widely studied language. According to information provided by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, Spanish is the most widely studied language at all educational levels in the United States. It ranks second in number of students in France, Sweden, Brazil and a large part of the United Kingdom. It is the third most spoken language in Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Norway, New Zealand, Portugal and Italy.
Teaching Spanish as a foreign language is therefore becoming a field with extremely promising job opportunities. The Cervantes Institute, Official Language Schools, public and private schools abroad, assistantships and grants at foreign universities, private language centres and NGOs are just a few of the professional opportunities for Spanish teachers.
The SFL workshops we present here are an extension of the courses offered to teachers or future teachers at the Spanish International Center (CIDE). The aim of these specific practical workshops on teaching contents and resources for classroom use is to address those areas of interest for practicing teachers or trainee teachers.
